My Artistic Life

Why an artist? Why not? We don't know why. We don't know what to do without it. We don't know how to do anything else? The incessantly new. Fruitful chances. Days with and desperate days. A raging stroke. A chance. Not really a job, not really normal. Mood and humor.

I'm a multitasking artist, in the most positive sense of the word. Unable to sit still, I don't get bored and can't stand repetitive work. I'm always working on several pieces at the same time, often in completely different stylistic idioms.

My 400 m2 studio is overflowing with canvases and upcycling works of all kinds and sizes, preferably large ones.

My work space is a veritable minefield, where I navigate between three large easels, the floor loosely protected by giant cardboard boxes, themselves covered with other, smaller-format works-in-progress... Tubes of paint, pigments, lacquers, sprays, brushes, rollers and spatulas are scattered about or soaking in large buckets of water.

My paintings are mostly colorful and come in a wide variety of styles: impressionist, expressionist, modern, abstract, pop-art, reversible canvases... and many more!

Most often on canvas, I also paint on wood, paper or textiles. I also like collages.

In my small formats, I mix paint with used and out-of-date materials.

Pieces of dried-out paint pallets are transformed into colorful little characters. I call them “Malpalettes”.

Old music sheets, records and newspapers serve as backdrops for silhouetted figures. These works are often in black and white, using fluid acrylic paints.

Since my childhood, I've always kept and collected old books, toys, posters, antique objects and furniture, tools... Naturally, I also ended up diving into the fascinating world of upcycling. This involves transforming forgotten treasures into artworks.

A collaboration with a window decorator led me to use old, mismatched display mannequins, a meeting with an aeronautical recycler, aircraft parts, markets, flea markets and numerous chance finds of agricultural parts, furniture, fabrics, frames, lamps... My upcycling workshop is also filled with the machines, tools and materials needed to create my works.

My works come in all shapes and sizes, some of them imposing and heavy!

In painting as in sculpture, it's always difficult to characterize my work as a whole. What's constantly surprising is its polyvalence, but there's always a common denominator: the interplay of techniques and styles, and the harmonious blending of colors.
